Safeguarding

Our three parishes are committed to keeping everyone in our churches safe and protected, especially our young people and those who might be vulnerable.

As part of the Diocese of St Albans, we have adopted the National Policy ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ and, guided by its foundations, our safeguarding policy is to endeavour to:

  • Promote a safer environment and culture
  • Safely recruit and support all those with responsibility related to children/vulnerable adults within the Church
  • Respond promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation
  • Care pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons
  • Care pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons
  • Respond to those that may pose a present risk to others

Those working in areas where it is necessary to have been checked by the DBS, hold a current and clear check, and are familiar with our good practice guidelines for the work they do. We acknowledge our responsibility for these matters and strive always to do God’s work mindful of current legislation, regulations and guidelines – but always with Christian love.

If you are concerned that someone you know is at risk of, or is being abused, or presents a risk to others, please seek advice from a Safeguarding Adviser or if necessary report the matter to the Local Authority Social care services or the Police without delay.
